First year in Austin Texas (1991) was a year to remember. Catching up with several musicians in Austin after meeting a whole bunch of Texas musicians at a summer concert in Alberta in 1988. Ponty Bone & The Squeezetones, RC Banks, Jim Yanaway, Doug Sahm, Flaco Jimenez among others. After living in L.A. for a decade in the 80’s, loaded up and drove off toward Nashville to share her original songs, stopped along the way in Austin and decided to make Austin home for the next 30 years.
This photo shows Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones with Debra Peters becomes a Squeezetone for a couple of days/shows at Port Aransas, TX outdoor festival. 1991 This was where while we sun tanning at the beach PB came up with the name of my new band. All of a sudden, he said, ” I know, the Luv…. Saints! Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t call us the way Ponty called us with his friendly and amazing Texas drawl. Everyone loved Ponty Bone. I met EVERYONE who was ANYONE in Texas because I hung out with PB. There were too many high times to tell but I’m sure I’ll eventually have a category on my blog called People I met because of knowing Ponty Bone!
